Traditional Foods

Traditional foods are foods that are passed through generations or which have been consumed many generations. Traditional foods and dishes are traditional in nature and may have a historic precedent in a national dish, regional cuisine or local cuisine. Traditional foods and beverages may be produced as homemade, and by restaurants but nowadays, some of the small manufacturers, and large food processing plant facilities.

Traditional food is a food with a specific feature which distinguishes it clearly from other similar products of the same category in terms of the use of “traditional ingredients” or raw material of primary products and “traditional type of production.

It is therefore difficult to draw general conclusions about the health benefits of a certain cuisine or original one. Traditional food is thus influenced by agricultural habits and location.
